Ask the Planner: How Many Cocktail Tables?

Welcome to our new Monday morning series:  Ask the Planner.  Submit any question related to the planning and organization of your wedding or event and The Wedding Firm will give real advice to your real questions.

Cocktail tables

The question that inspired this series – “How many cocktail tables should I rent for my wedding?”  I received the question from Amy over at All Things Wedding (check it out – her big day is getting very close!). My advice to Amy was to remember that the goal is not to make sure everyone has somewhere to set their cocktail.  The goal is to provide conversations centers to bring your guests together and allow them to get to know one another in a casual environment before dinner.  The beauty is in the arrangement of the entire group of tables.   Also, remember to keep the tables spaced about 5-7 feet apart and within a relatively small and confined area.   The 5-7 feet allows your guests to pass easily between the tables while limiting the overall space for the cocktail hour encourages guests to mingle and get to know one another.

Submit your wedding planning question to kristy{at}houstonweddingfirm.com.  Maybe your question will be selected to be answered on “Ask the Planner”.
